Living it up in Lancaster

So, we took a part of my last paycheck and went to Lancaster, PA. for a few days. We stopped by some fun touristy places and also spent time just relaxing as a family in the inn. It was so nice to de-stress for a few days that we ended up staying one more night...

Here is the Amish View Inn, where we not only snagged a cheap deal online, but we had a free breakfast smorgasboard every morning served on silver with a window view like this... it doesn't matter if you are a farmer or not - it makes your morning start so much more peacefully when all you see is nature and cows!

We started our trip by stopping through Hershey 's Chocolate World. We had fun taking the free tour, and even more fun loading up on chocolate. James was slightly confused by the giant hershey kiss.

James offered to taste test my Reese's candy bar for me. He had just finished a decent size hershey's chocolate ice cream, so we are pretty sure he likes chocolate. Actually, it is a fact now. So much for the organic diet.

Next stop: Thomas the Tank's store in Strasburg PA where you can ride Thomas for only 50 cents...James was not terribly impressed. We also found the Red Caboose Motel and Restaurant for when James is older...for lodging you can stay in an old train caboose and have dinner in an old fashioned train restuarant.

After our adventures of day one were over, we got settled in our hotel room and decided to go for a swim. For the child that hates bathtime, we were more than startled to see that he LOVED the pool! He really enjoyed making big splashes and kicking his little feet.

We tried the Lancaster Central Farmers Market, and although we did not get any family pictures there, we found it to be a really fun family event. We met lots of local farmers and purchased fresh made cheeses and meats and finally found a local amish farmer who will sell us 1/8th of a cow for far less than what we are paying for at Whole Foods.



We also stopped by our old Stomping Grounds where we got hitched (Willow Valley Resort). James enjoyed walking around the pond and checking out all the cute little girls on the playground.



We also made it to the Kitchen Kettle Village, where we sampled lots of fudge, jellies, dipping sauces, coffee, meats and more amish fresh made cheeses.
